Dead Means Dead! What more is there to say? Johnny Storm died, and we have joined the rest of the vultures in the media in discussing his tragic passing.

We also share broader thoughts about Jonathan Hickman’s Fantastic Four run, and you can also check out our earlier forays into Hickman’s work on FBB, plus David and Chris’s in-progress FF Annotation Project on Comics Alliance.

  1. I don’t buy it – is 16 to 24 months, they’ll reveal he was never really dead in the first place… or something like that. nobody ever stays dead forever anymore!

  2. I wish they never bothered trying to sell us on Johnny having died in the Negative Zone. It’s just weak storytelling, especially the way it was depicted – I mean, not ONE Nova blast? Not even the slightest HINT of a Nova blast, to show he went down swinging? Weak…

A better story would have been to intentionally leave his fate a mystery. Make it somehow difficult for Reed to REOPEN the portal to the Negative Zone, and let him, Ben and Susan just THINK he’s dead.

And then when Johnny does return, you have some conflict to play with; perhaps deep down, Reed Ben and Susan all thought of Johnny was the weakest link of the team and all felt that he needed protecting…and then to have Johnny face up to the fact that THIS is the way his truest friends, his FAMILY all saw him for all these years…boom. There’s your story.

  4. Once I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new feedback are added- checkbox and now every time a remark is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any method you can remove me from that service? Thanks!
