FBBP #68 – Out of Nowhere…

With Pedro and Jamaal doing adult things, we brought in a ringer. Jon Bernhardt came up from Baltimore to chat about the first issue of Air, G. Willow Wilson & M.K. Perker’s new Vertigo ongoing.

Then, a surprise visitor arrived just in time for our discussion of Captain America #41 by Ed Brubaker & Steve Epting. I bet if you whisper “Captain America” three times in your bathroom mirror, Pedro will show up at your house too, looking for beer.

Jon’s in town for awhile, and will be joining us again Wednesday night to talk Secret Invasion. There have been sixty-odd “Secret Invasion” comics at this point, with a bunch more coming out today, so we’ll try to make sense of it all.

In other news, next week’s podcast will feature a bookclub-style discussion Hayao Miyazaki’s seminal manga Nausica√ɬ§ of the Valley of the Wind. It’s one of Joe’s favorites, so he’ll be leading a discussion on the entire series.

The whole series is seven volumes (Volumes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) and you can buy them through Amazon and support the site at the same time.

  1. Keeping in FBB’s current theme of admitting mistakes, I name Karen Berger as the current editor of the Vertigo book Young Liars, and definitely not Shelly Bond. Well, it definitely is Shelly Bond! Apologies.
