FBBP #57 – Iron Man and Our Wives

The original FBB Trio come together for Round One of “Summer ’08 Funnybook Blockbusters” and discuss Iron Man. The opening discussion of Clinton/Obama and Jimmy Carter’s potential as a supervillain informs the rest of the chat, responding to political readings of the movie out in the media. Is Tony Stark a Neocon? A Goldwater Conservative? A Blame America Firster? An Iron Cabin Republican? Listen and learn!

Iron Man the movie satisfied the FBB crew, but what of people who don’t know Tony Stark from John Starks? Pedro, Joe and Jamaal all saw the film with their galpals, and discuss their views.

  1. For the Record, there will be a second podcast tomorrow for the hardcore fans, that won’t try to shoe horn continuity to make it more accessible to movie fans.

  2. That’s a great idea. I’ve been really confused by the inaccessible, continuity-laden podcasts in the past. Maybe you guys should consider including an intro segment, to explain who you are and what kind of show you’re making. Or maybe you should include more discussions about ‘hot’ topics, like the premiere of the Sex and the City movie, or American Idol results. What do you think?

  3. I’m hoping the rumor of this podcast going exclusive with Diamond is just that, a rumor. I feel I’ve grown beyond the stale, predictable world of corporate podcast universes. I hope you guys continue to fight the man!

  4. One thing that I thought was really funny, in the Iron Man movie, was when Iron Man’s magic Afghan friend dies. I mean, not that he died, but that as he dies he’s literally HUGGING AN AMERICAN FLAG to his chest.
