Fantagraphics Are Cruel Teasing Pranksters

Filed under: Blurbs — Chris Eckert @ 2:00 am

Seriously fellows, it is not very nice to post headlines like “Steve Ditko at MOCCA Festival?” on your website for me to look at when I get home on a Friday night!

Yes, I realize you posted this back on Tuesday, so part of this is my fault. And yes, it is insane to assume Ditko will break his Salingeresque reclusiveness in order to show up at the Puck building. But look at what you said!

Regardless of my shattered dreams, the Blake Bell book looks fun, and apparently Ditko himself is releasing something this year! That’s cool! I guess MoCCA will be pretty fun even if we don’t get the creator of Speedball… but come on, Fantagraphics!

  1. OMG!!! I want to get that book!!!! That looks *awesome*!!!

Hasn’t there been word of Ditko bringing a new comic out, too? I mean, I realize his output for the last few decades hasn’t been wonderful or anything, but I’d still get geeked for a new Ditko book!

  2. I saw “The Avenging Mind” last week–it’s a bunch of prose essays and only a handful of drawings, at least some of which are older drawings that have been printed in earlier Ditko Packages–possibly all of them, I’m not sure. Not exciting, unfortunately.

  3. Man, the worse was when that Savage Critic dude posted about a Steve Ditko inventory story on April Fool’s day. People shouldn’t be allowed to joke about Steve Ditko, I’m too gullible for that type of stuff.

  5. Tom DeFalco created Speedball, Ditko just drew it.
